ISLAMABAD, May 21 (APP): Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, who is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, called on Crown Prince of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is also the Defence Minister of KSA. According to a press release issued by PAF, both the dignitaries discussed matters of mutual interest and various fields of future cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

LAHORE, May 20 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari Monday evening telephoned Mian Nawaz Sharif and felicitated him on victory in elections. The President also telephoned Maulana Fazal-ur-Rahman, head of JUI(F), and President ANP Asfandyar Wali Khan. Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the President felicitated the people and all parties on participation in elections paving way for the first democratic transition in the country.The Spokesperson quoted the President as saying that the elections followed by smooth transfer of power in the coming days will be remembered as a watershed mark in our political evolution and a triumph of the democratic ethos of the people and the political parties.

ISLAMABAD, May 20 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari Monday promulgated an ordinance to regulate and implement Surveying and Mapping standards in the country and to enable Survey of Pakistan (SoP) effectively assume its role of National Mapping Organization. Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said the ‘Surveying and Mapping Ordinance, 2013, had been promulgated on the advice of the Prime Minister.

LAHORE, 20 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated Pakistani women mountaineer Samina Baig and her brother Mirza Ali on climbing the world’s highest Mount Everest. The President, in a message of felicitation, lauded the will and determination of Samina Baig and said that she had made the nation proud and earned laurels for the country by becoming the first Pakistani women to scale Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain with a peak at 8,848 meters. He said that the whole nation was proud of the young lady mountaineer for her historic achievement and also for introducing Pakistani women as a symbol of talent and great potential.

ISLAMABAD, May 20 (APP): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Arif Nizami said on Monday that as per constitution the first session of the National Assembly should be held within 21 days after the issuance of the notifications of the elected MNAs. While replying to media persons questions after his address to closing session of a seminar on social media here the minister said however it was the prerogative of the President to summon the first session of newly-elected National Assembly.

Addressing the party’s newly elected parliamentarians here at Al-Hamra Hall, he welcomed all the party’s elected representatives and those independent parliamentarians, who joined the Nawaz League.
