KARACHI, May 14 (APP);  The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday announced that re-polling in National Assembly constituency NA-250, Karachi will be held on May 19. According to Provincial Election Commission (PEC) sources here, the polling will be held in 43 polling stations where the results were withheld on complaints of rigging and other irregularities, by the ECP. According to the announcement, the re-polling will be held in polling stations Nos. 4, 7, 11, 48, 52, 56, 57, 58, 60, 62, 78, 97, 98, 100, 101, 104, 106, 109, 110, 113, 114, 115, 117, 122, 123, 131, 133, 136, 137, 139, 140, 141, 142, 143, 144, 148, 157, 165, 168, 175, 177 and 179.

ISLAMABAD, May 13 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday asked the winning candidates of national and provincial assemblies  to submit their returns of election expenses with returning officers till May 21. “Section 42(3A) of the Representation of the People Act, 1976, read  with Section 50 and Rule 30 of the Representation of the People (Conduct  of Election) Rule, 1977, requires every candidate returned to the National Assembly and provincial assemblies to submit to the returning officer concerned, a return of election expenses within 10 days from the poll of an election”, said the ECP in a statement here.

ISLAMABAD, May 12 (APP): Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Sunday assured the political parties that it had made a fool-proof system to check any kind of manipulation and tempering in the election results. Addressing a press conference, Secretary ECP Ishtiaq Ahmed said that the apprehensions regarding delay in results, as expressed by a section of people, were not based on the facts as the commission had made proper mechanism to ensure free and fair polls. He said the delay in announcing results was due to first-time introduction of Result Management System (RMS) that was provided to all the 425 returning officers for sharing the exact vote count of candidates from each polling station all over the country soon after the counting process was completed.

MIRPUR (AJK), Jun 20 (APP): The Azad Jammu Kashmir government Wednesday announced a total of Rs. 49.59 billion revenue-oriented tax free budget for next fiscal 2012-13, with revenue expenditures totaled to be around Rs. 40,050.00 million and deficit of Rs. 5100.0 million. The budget was announced by AJK Finance minister Chaudry Pervaiz Ashraf in AJK Legislative Assembly which met in Muzaffarabad. “An amount of Rs. 9547.036 million has been allocated for development sector with Rs. 40,050.00 million recurrent budget for the next fiscal year,” he informed the House. The AJK assembly was told that the development budget has been increased to 15 percent, compared to the financial year 2011-12.

Acting Speaker of the Assembly Syeda Shehla Raza chaired the session. Besides Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, a large number of MPAs and Ministers from Pakistan People’s Party and from other coalition parties were present in the House. They listened to the budget speech very peacefully and appreciated the budget in general.

QUETTA, June 11 (APP): The Balochistan coalition government has presented Rs 179.93 billion Budget for financial year 2012-13 during the provincial assembly session here on Monday. The 20 percent increase in salaries and pension of government employees announced while 6530 new vacancies have been created in the next financial budget for 2012-13. No deficit was shown in the budget. Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhootani presided over the assembly sitting. Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani and Senior Minister Maulana Abdul Wasey were also present in the house. Provincial Minister for Finance Mir Asim Kurd presented the Rs 179.93 billion tax-free budget for next fiscal year 2012-13 which includes Rs 35.81 billion of annual development program and Rs 144.11 billion of non-development expenditures.

LAHORE, June 9 (APP)- The Punjab government on Saturday presented a  balanced and tax-free budget with a total outlay of Rs 782.86 billion for fiscal year 2012-13 allocating Rs 250 billion for Annual Development Programme (ADP). Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, who was given the charge of finance minister just a day before the budget day, presented the budget in the Punjab Assembly. Giving break-up of the budget receipts and expenditures, he said, the provincial government would receive a total of Rs 650.5 billion from federal divisible pool, while Rs 131.4 billion from provincial own tax and non-tax revenues.

ISLAMABAD, June 2 (APP): Federal Minister for Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh said on Friday that the main focus of the Federal Budget 2012-13 was to sustain continuity of microeconomic stability and ensure relief to the vulnerable segments of society. Addressing a post-budget press conference here, the Finance Minister said that the tax collections had increased and the government had enhanced development allocations to maintain the pace. He said that the country’s economy was picking up momentum and setting a required base for future accelaration. The government also took care of the vulnerable segments of society and announced relief measures to provide financial assistance and targetted subsidies, he added.
