UNITED NATIONS, April 24 (APP):  One year after the global garment industry’s worst industrial accident, the fund chaired by the United Nations to compensate victims of Bangladesh’s Rana Plaza factory collapse has begun issuing its initial round of payments, the UN said.

The Minister distributed cheques among six badly injured persons admitted in various wards of the hospital. The Minister talked to the injured and inquired about their health and facilities being provided to them. Talking to mediamen, the Minister said compensation of Rs.500,000 would be paid to the heirs of persons killed in the blast, while Rs. 75,000 would be paid to the injured.
