Indian diplomat in New York arrested for visa fraud -
NEW YORK, Dec 13 (APP): A mid-level Indian diplomat was arrested Thursday for allegedly presenting fraudulent documents in support of a visa application for an Indian national employed by her, Manhattan’s top federal prosecutor Preet Bharara announced. Devyani Khobragade, Deputy Consul General at the Indian Consulate General in New York, was held on charges that she allegedly caused a materially false and fraudulent document to be presented, and materially false and fraudulent statements to be made, to the US Department of State in support of a visa application for an Indian national employed as a babysitter and housekeeper at her home in New York.
UN team finds ‘credible information’ on more cases of chemical weapons use in Syria -
UNITED NATIONS, Dec 13 (APP): The United Nations team probing the use of chemical weapons in Syria, which in September found “clear and convincing evidence” of Sarin gas attacks against civilians, including children, in the Damascus area, Thursday reported “credible information” that such weapons were used against soldiers and civilians in other parts of the country. “The United Nations Mission collected credible information that corroborates the allegations that chemical weapons were used in Khan Al Asal on 19 March 2013 against soldiers and civilians,” according to the final report, which team leader handed over to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at UN Headquarters in New York.
US asks Pakistan, India to resolve Kashmir, Afghanistan discords -
WASHINGTON, Dec 12 (APP): The United States has been urging Islamabad and New Delhi to resolve their differences on Kashmir dispute and Afghanistan, America’s top envoy for the region James Dobbins said, while underscoring that improved Pakistan-India ties are critical to Afghan stability. Testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Ambassador Dobbins also recognized that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s government has been trying to improve relations with both India and Afghanistan. He told lawmakers that the greatest contribution that New Delhi and Islamabad could make towards Afghan stability is through improvement in the two South Asian neighbors’ own bilateral relationship.

NEW DELHI, Dec 12 (APP): Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, shortly after arrival in New Delhi on Thursday. Giving details of the visit, Foreign Office said the Chief Minister delivered a message of goodwill from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while emphasizing Pakistan’s desire to forge cooperative relations with India, in the interest of peace and prosperity of the peoples of the two countries and of the region. The Chief Minister also underscored the importance of resumption of dialogue and peaceful resolution of all issues.

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 12 (APP): Voicing deep concern over widespread violence in Bangladesh that has left dozens of people dead since last month, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resolve differences over upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for January through dialogue. He spoke with Sheikh Hasina and President Abdul Hamid by phone as a senior UN political official wrapped up a five-day visit to the South Asian country with a warning that the current political crisis is exacting a heavy, human, social and economic toll, seriously threatening the hard-earned economic and social progress that Bangladesh has achieved.

كانوا يلعبون عندما انفجرت القنبلة مما أدى إلى مقتل طفل وإصابة آخرين بجروح، وفي
حين تم نقل المصابين إلى مستشفى المدينة.
