UN peacekeepers in Golan come under renewed attack: report -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 31 (APP): The United Nations said its peacekeepers  in the Golan were attacked by armed elements on Saturday, as efforts continue to achieve the safe release of 44 blue helmets detained on Thursday.

UNITED NATIONS, Aug 30 (APP): The United Nations said on Friday that it has received assurances from credible sources that the 44 peacekeepers who were taken from their positions in the Golan Thursday are safe and in good health.

UNITED NATIONS, Aug 28 (APP): UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Thursday he is alarmed by what seems to be a “dangerous escalation” in the crisis in Ukraine with reports that the fighting in the eastern part of the country has spread near the border with Russia.

FBISE declare SSC result PDF Print E-mail

ISLAMABAD, Jul 14 (APP): Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Monday announced Secondary School Certificate (SSC, composite) annual examination 2008 with overall pass percentage of 69.40.

Of total, 57171 students who appeared in the examination held in April/May, 39624 declared successful, says a press release issued here.

Muhammad Athar Azeem( roll number 704715, Science Group) F.G Boys Model School I-10/2, Islamabad secured first position by obtaining 806 marks while Ahmad Mubashir(roll number, 710989, Science Group) Garrison Boys High School, Tufail Road, Lahore Cantt and Fatima Syed(roll number 737866, Science Group) of Army Public School for Girls, 52 Tufail Road, Lahore Cantt bagged second position by securing 799 marks each.

The third position was secured by Majid Mushtaq(Roll number 701120, Science Group) with 798 marks of Ali Trust School and College, Lehtrar Road, Khanna(F.A) Islamabad.

In Humanities Group, Nida Amjad(roll number 784669) secured first position F.G Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed, Girls High School Multan Cantt by obtaining 715 marks and Hafiz Muhammad Saad Ullah(Roll number 750074) secured second position by obtaining 707 marks.

While in the same, Hafiz Samiullah Daud(750063), Institute of Islamic Sciences Satra Meel(FA) Islamabad and S.Hina Hussain of Islamabad Model College for Girls F-7/4 secured third position by getting 705 marks each.

The result is also available on website www.fbise.edu.pk. or the student should an SMS in the formate of: FB< space>[roll number] on unified code 5050.

This year, the press release said as many as 18 unfair-means cases were reported and students whose results have been withheld for want of fee or eligibility have been advised to attend to these discrepancies immediately to declare their result.

The SSC supplementary examination will commence from September 16, it added.
