Pak Ambassador presents credentials to President Xi Jinping PDF Print E-mail
BEIJING, Apr, 22 (APP): Ambassador of Pakistan to China,  Masood Khalid presented his credentials to Chinese President Xi Jinping here Monday. While presenting the letter of credence, Masood Khalid delivered greetings of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan to the Chinese President. Ambassador Masood Khalid conveyed President of Pakistan’s profound grief on the loss of precious lives and property in the recent earthquake in Sichuan province. Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with China in these testing times, the Ambassador said.
President Xi Jinping thanked Pakistan for its expression of support atthis difficult hour.
The Ambassador thanked China for its continued support to Pakistan’seconomic development.  
Pakistan and China have longstanding and time tested friendship whichhas scaled “new heights” with each passing year, Ambassador Masood Khalid added.
President Xi Jinping expressed satisfaction over the progress in bilateral relations and said that Pakistan and China were all weather friends.
The existing close ties would be further broadened through enhanced trade andeconomic cooperation.
President Xi assured China’s continued assistance and support in the socio-economic development of Pakistan.
The Ambassador said that, despite challenges, Pakistan’s economy has shown good progress.
Prior to his latest appointment,  Masood Khalid was Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Malaysia since 2010, having previously served as Additional Secretary (Asia-Pacific) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador of Pakistan to South Korea from 2005-2007.
China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi and Director General,Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Luo Zhaohui were also present on the occasion.
