Nearly 300,000 children head back to school in conflict-torn Syria, Gaza: UN agency -
UNITED NATIONS, Sept 16 (APP): As the school year kicks off around the world, nearly 300,000 children Monday returned to U.N.-run classrooms in Gaza and Syria, where in both instances, the UN is trying to meet the emergency education needs of Palestine refugees in war-ravaged areas where many of their schools damaged and destroyed.

PPP continue to serve labour class: Kaira PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, Mar 12 (APP): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Tuesday that Pakistan Peoples Party was party of the labour and working class and it would continue to serve them. This he said while addressing the participants of a sit-in of Pakistan Ordinance Factory (POF) Wah employees here at D Chowk, near Parliament House. He said that Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf had given approval for regularization of contract and casual employees of POF Wah cantt. He said that the Prime Minister had issued directives to the Secretary Defence for regularization of casual employees of the POF Wah and summery in this connection will be moved to the regularization committee schedule to meet tomorrow.

The PM, he added, also sent the case of up-gradation of POF employees to the POF board for approval as the board was the competent authority in this regard.
He also said that Prime Minister had given approval for grant of danger allowance to POF Wah employees.
Kaira also announced that the government had accepted in principle the demand of the employees of the POF for revival of old medical facilities but for this they will have to surrender medical allowance being given in the salary.
Kaira also visited the sit-in camps of teaching and non-teaching staff of schools working under Federal Directorate of Education.
About teaching staff demands, he said, that he will convey their demands to the Prime Minister and these will be considered for approval.
At non-teaching staff camp, he said, their genuine demands will be accepted within 24 hours.
Moreover, he said, that case for regularization of non-teaching staff will be tabled before Regularization committee headed Syed Khursheed Shah.
He said that the peoples government has already regularized 250,000 contract employees and the non-teaching staff of the FDE will also be regularized as per policy.
