World leaders urged to make science, technology and innovation central to development policy -
UNITED NATIONS, Oct 20 (APP): Science, technology and innovation are central in forging development policy and solving some of the world's most pressing problems including in education, healthcare and peace and security, eminent scientists and world leaders said Monday at an event marking the 60th anniversary of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

Vice-Primer lauds religious groups for greater contribution for charity work PDF Print E-mail
BEIJING, Sept. 21 (APP): Religious scholars in China have long made great contributions to charity and society, said Vice Premier Hui Liangyu.In a message to a religious meeting Hu encouraged China’s religious groups to take an active part in charitable efforts.He also expressed his well-wishes for the meeting which began Thursday, as well as for a weeklong function to promote charity programmes created by religious groups in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei province.In February, the State Administration for Religious Affairs SARA) and five other departments issued a notice to encourage religious groups to engage in charitable activities.According to the notice, the government will provide preferential policies for groups that engage in charity work.Religious groups can use the opportunity to improve their charity programs and promote themselves, Hui said.The government expects the groups to make greater contributions to social harmony, he added.
