Chinese funding to help IPU support new development agenda -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 31 (APP): The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) has welcomed the decision by China to provide US $ 1.5 million in new funding to the Organization in its work to strengthen parliaments and better prepare them for the implementation of the new sustainable development agenda.

UN Security Council condemns sexual violence as 'tactic of war' in Iraq and Syria -
UNITED NATION, Aug 29 (APP): The United Nations Security Council has condemned the use of sexual violence, in particular sexual enslavement and sexual violence related to or resulting from forced marriage, committee, including as a tactic of war, in Syria and Iraq, and urged all parties to armed conflict to take all feasible steps to protect civilians from such abhorrent acts.


More than 300,000 make perilous Mediterranean crossing in 2015 - UN -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 29 (APP):  The number of refugees and migrants crossing the Mediterranean to reach Europe has surpassed 300,000 this year, up from 219,000 during the whole of 2014, the United Nations refugee agency said Friday.

PM exchanges Eid greetings with people of hometown PDF Print E-mail
GUJAR KHAN, Aug 21 (APP): Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf exchanged Eid greetings here on Tuesday with citizens belonging to his hometown Gujar Khan. Hundreds of people including youth, elderly and children lined up to meet the Prime Minister at his residence. The Prime Minister who was accompanied by members of his family greeted and shook hands with each one of his guests individually. Prime Minister Ashraf inquired about the well being of the visitors, listened to their problems and assured them that their issues would be resolved. The guests were served tea and snacks. People came to receive the Prime Minister as he arrived in his constituency for the first time after assuming the highest post of the country. The people expressed happiness at meeting with their leader and said they were proud that the Prime Minister belonged to Potohar region.
