US confident of Pakistani nuclear safety |

WASHINGTON, Aug 16 (APP): The United States on
Thursday expressed confidence in the safety of Pakistan’s nuclear assets,
saying there is no need to be concerned about the security of Pakistani atomic
arsenal at this moment.Speaking in the wake of early Thursday’s
terrorist attack on theKamra Airbase, a State Department spokesperson also said
the U.S. agrees with the Pakistani official statement that has denied the
presence of any nuclear material or device at the airbase.“We have confidence that the government of Pakistan is
well aware of the range of potential threats to its nuclear arsenal and has
secured its nuclear arsenal accordingly,” State Department spokesperson Victoria
Nuland said at the daily briefing “We do talk about these issues, and support
Pakistani efforts to keepthem secure, (we)
have for quite a long long time. And we have no reason to be concerned
at this moment,” she said, replying to a question.
