UN chief condemns killing of dozens of worshippers in eastern Iraq -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 23 (APP): UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has condemned in "the strongest terms" the attack on a mosque in eastern Iraq, and called on all Iraqi authorities to ensure that the incident is properly investigated and its perpetrators held to account.


UN chief urges Russia, Ukraine to exercise restraint after aid convoy crosses border -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 23 (APP): Reacting to reports that a Russian aid convoy crossed on Friday the Ukrainian border without Kiev's permission, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged all sides to continue to work together to ensure that humanitarian supplies reach those most in need.


Death toll in Syria civil war over 191,000: UN -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 22 (APP): The number of people killed in Syria is double the number documented a year ago, the U.N. human rights chief Friday announced, criticizing the international community for failing to stop the “killers, destroyers and torturers” that have torn the country apart.


Pakistan urges UNSC to make full use of diplomacy for resolution of conflicts -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 22 (APP): At the United Nations Security Council today Pakistan urged the Council to make full use of the preventive diplomacy tools at its disposal under Chapter VI "especially mediation, arbitration, inquiry, judicial settlement, involvement of regional organizations,the Secretary General's good offices" to defuse tensions and  to resolve conflicts that were simmering just below the surface but threaten to explode.


US favors dialogue, peaceful expression of view -
WASHINGTON, Aug 21 (APP): The United States thinks there needs to be a political dialogue, in the face of marches by Opposition parties in Islamabad, and it also favors peaceful expression of view, the State Department said Thursday.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 10 (APP): President Asif Zardari has taken serious notice of the reports of the sense of insecurity among Hindu families in Sindh and directed authorities concerned to allay Hindus’ grievances and to submit a report to him.Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that President also constituted a three member committee of the Members of Parliament to visit different parts of Sindh to express solidarity with the Hindus on his and government behalf and to reassure them about their security and well being.The committee comprises of Senator Hari Ram, MNA Lal Chand and Federal Minister Moula Bakhsh Chandio.
