Obama to visit India in January 2015 -
 WASHINGTON,  Nov 21 (APP): U.S. President Barack Obama will travel to India in January 2015 to participate in the Indian Republic Day celebration in New Delhi as chief guest, the White House announced Friday.



Bokhari urges world parliamentarians to back Palestinians' right to statehood -
UNITED NATIONS, Nov 21 (APP): Senate Chairman Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari who is leading Pakistan's parliamentary delegation to the annual Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the UN General Assembly, Friday called on world parliamentarians to raise their voice for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including statehood.


Pakistan urges world community to support its efforts to end discrimination against minorities -
UNITED NATIONS, Nov 21 (APP): A Pakistani delegate, speaking at a gathering of parliamentarians from around the world,  has urged the international community to support Pakistan's efforts aimed at curbing the discriminatory tendencies against the country's minorities so as to end communal violence.   



Pakistan and Afghanistan to jointly counter terror threats as their ties improve -
UNITED NATIONS, Nov 21 (APP): Pakistan and Afghanistan will jointly counter the threats of terrorism, violent extremism and  transnational crime with “strong common resolve”, and move to forge a mutually beneficial economic relationship, a top Pakistani diplomat told the UN General Assembly on Thursday.

UNITED NATIONS, July 19 (APP): Ahead of UN Security Council deliberations on Syria on Thursday, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has voiced hope that the 15-member body will take action to resolve the crisis in the Middle Eastern country. “The Secretary-General sincerely hopes Security Council members shoulder their responsibility and take collective and effective action with a sense of urgency,” Ban’s spokesperson said in a statement. The Council had originally been scheduled to discuss the situation in Syria on Wednesday.The spokesperson added that the Secretary-General had taken note of the Council’s decision to postpone the deliberations because of the “dramatic developments” which took place in Damascus on Wednesday. A bomb attack on the National Security Headquarters building, during a high-level meeting, killed and wounded Government officials.Syria’s defence minister and his deputy were reported amongst those killed, and opposition forces reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.In addition, there were reports of clashes between Syrian Government forces and opposition fighters in several neighbourhoods of Damascus.
