UN says free expression vital for good governance, human rights -
UNITED NATIONS, May 3 (APP): Freedom of expression and press freedom  are critical to the successful implementation of good governance and  human rights around the world, top United Nations officials declared  Sunday as they inaugurated the 2015 edition of World Press Freedom Day.



Amid new attack on Yarmouk camp, UN urges Syria to halt military operations -
UNITED NATIONS, May 3 (APP): After a reported overnight attack on Yarmouk refugee camp, the U.N. relief agency assisting Palestinians across the Middle East Saturday called on the Syrian government to refrain from using explosive weapons in populated areas, "including airborne weapons, whose indiscriminate effects expose civilians to imminent danger and suffering."

UN and EU aid chiefs reaffirm commitment to help quake-hit Nepal -
UNITED NATIONS, May 3 (APP): Wrapping up their visit to Nepal, the United Nations and European Union aid chiefs stressed that while relief teams are working around the clock to assist the thousands of people affected by the devastating earthquake that struck the Himalayan nation a week ago, aircraft and helicopters are urgently needed, as are emergency shelters, particularly for people in hard-hit rural areas.


Pakistani culture display in Washington attracts droves of visitors -
WASHINGTON, May 3 (APP): Culture enthusiasts and tourists got an opportunity to experience many creative dimensions of life in contemporary Pakistan, and the ancient civilizations that flourished in the South Asian country whose rich heritage remained a central attraction on the occasion of the annual "Passport D.C. PESHAWAR, May 2 (APP): Mardan clinched the trophy after defeating Bannu in the final of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Region Boys Baseball Championship played here at Qayyum Sports Complex on Saturday.

app17-11pm-islamabad.jpgISLAMABAD, Jul 11 (APP): Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf Wednesday termed the achievement of $25 billion export target a great success, despite the global economic crunch and decreasing trend of exports worldwide.Talking to Amin Faheem senior Minister for Commerce here at the PM House he said the increase during FY-2011-12 speaks volumes about the policy of “trade not aid” policy of the present government.The Prime Minister urged the Ministry of Commerce to keep up the export momentum, adding that enhanced market access to the Pakistani products by the European Union from 2014 onwards would be instrumental into surge of the exports.
