Sindh Open Golf explode into action from Friday |

KARACHI, July 5 (APP): The quartet of reigning Champion Muhammad Munir, Pakistan number one Muhammad Shabbir Iqbal, Nadeem Inayat and Matloob Ahmed are top contenders for Rs 1.3 million 14th edition of Sindh Open Golf Championship which tee-off here at wonderful settings of Arabian Sea Country Club from Friday. Cream of country’s golfing talent with 80 professionals in the fray will be battling for Rs.1.3 million prize money at the offer in 54-hole event which conclude on Sunday. Bearded Shabbir Iqbal of Ufone is in top form, having complete a treble by winning Chief of Naval Staff professional crown at Karachi Golf Club beating Nadeem Inayat by ten strokes.
Experienced Nadeem Inayat, who finished runner-up, Muhammad Munir may pose problems to Shabbir Iqbal.
Besides the top four, Shahid Javed Khan, Aadil Jehangir and Afsar Ali are capable of upsetting the apple-cart.
Apart from the main professional competition, the senior professionals
will be contesting for Rs.300,000 prize money with top amateurs.
Among the amateur defending champion Sajid Khan of the host club may
face stiff challenge from Muhammad Ali Hai, who won the title Chief of
Naval Staff title last Sunday with Sohail Rana, Abdul Rehman and teenage
sensation Mubariz Ahmed from Islamabad.
Organizing Secretary of the event Aurangzeb Khan said overall 175 golfers in different categories of the event.
“Our course, fairways, greens are attracting golfers to give their best in the championship,” he commented.
