Washington, July 31 (APP): Appreciating Pakistan's constructive role in the Afghan reconciliation process, a U.S. State Department spokesman on Thursday encouraged the Taliban to seize a 'moment of opportunity' to make genuine peace and become part of the legitimate political system of Afghanistan.


Diplomats call for addressing root causes of refugee and migrant flows at Pakistan-organized event -
UNITED NATIONS, July 31 (APP): Senior diplomats and UN officials at a highly appreciated Pakistan-sponsored panel discussion on the plight of refugees and migrants Thursday called for addressing the root causes of the massive human movements -- conflicts, persecution and poverty -- in a bid to end this grave humanitarian crisis.


World population to reach 8.5 billion by 2030, driven by growth in developing countries: UN -
UNITED NATIONS, July 30 (APP): The world's population is projected to reach 8.5 billion by 2030, 9.7 billion by 2050 and exceed 11 billion in 2100, with India expected to surpass China as the most populous around seven years from now and Nigeria overtaking the United States to become the world's third largest country around 35 years from now, according to a new United Nations report.

NEW YORK, July 30 (APP): U.S. investigators have concluded that the piece of aircraft debris found Wednesday near a French island in the southern Indian Ocean came from a Boeing 777, raising the odds that it belongs to the mysteriously vanished Malaysian airlines flight MH370, The New York Times reported Thursday.

app02-27infominister-islamabad.jpgISLAMABAD, Jun 27 (APP): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said Wednesday that talibanization was a mindset and defeating or changing this mindset was imperative to make the world cradle of peace. He said this while addressing as chief guest at 15th National Research Conference at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology here. Kaira said that in the international level Pakistan was blamed on the issue of extremism and terrorism but in fact Pakistan was itself a victim of terrorism.
