BEIJING, June 15 (APP): A Pakistani delegation led by Sindh Minister for Sports Dr. Mohammad Ali Shah is these days visiting China to attend the Asian Beach Games. The inauguration of the 3rd Asian Beach Games will be held in Haiyang, a coastal city in Shandong province on Saturday. Dr. Shah, who is also the President of Sind Olympic Association told media on arrival here from Pakistan on Thursday that besides attending the inauguration ceremony, the delegation would also observe the system, infrastructure and other arrangements made for the Beach games, as Sindh Government is planning to hold this kind of sports activities at national level.
He said that we have planned to hold the event next year.
“Firstly we would hold the event at national level and later in coming years to organize at Asian Level”, said Dr. Shah.
The Secretary General of Sindh Olympic Association Ahmed Ali Rajput is already in Yaiyang, he said.
Minister Shah pointed out that he is visiting China on the directives of IOC (International Olympic Committee) following recommendations from Pakistan Olympic Association.
Rajput told APP from Haiyang that around 30 players from Pakistan are
also participating in three events, namely Kabbadi, Hand Ball and
Sailing.
Over 45 countries are taking part in week-long competitions that will come to close on June 22, said Rajput.
Haiyang, a coastal city in the peninsula province of Shandong in eastern China, is strategically located in the center of the prime tourist trio of Qingdao, Yantai, and Weihai.
It is also famous for its extensive sea beaches, national forest parks and wetland reserves.
On December 2, 2006 the Olympic Council of Asia in Doha announced the
selection of Haiyang as the host city for 2012 Asian Beach Games.
