UNSC urges international support for Iraqi government’s combat against insurgents -
UNITED NATIONS, Sept 20 (APP): The Security Council Friday strongly condemned attacks by terrorist organizations, including the Islamic State, also known as ISIS and ISIL, and urged member states to assist the Iraqi Government’s efforts to combat militants and implement its new political agenda.

UNITED NATION, Sept 19 (APP): The UN’s top human rights official Friday urged Egypt and other North African and European states to help bring to justice the people smugglers who allegedly deliberately sank a boat causing the deaths of hundreds of refugees and migrants in last week’s “truly horrendous incident” in the Mediterranean.

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 19 (APP): The United Nations Security Council  Thursday night declared the Ebola outbreak in West Africa a threat to peace and security, as Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced that the U.N. will deploy a new emergency health mission to combat one of most horrific diseases on the planet that has shattered the lives of millions.

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 18 (APP): There is "quite simply no better way forward" other than a unity government in Afghanistan, U.N. envoy Jan  Kubis told the Security Council from Kabul in his final briefing in that capacity.

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 18 (APP): A new U.N.-backed report launched Thursday reveals that 22 million people worldwide were displaced in 2013 by disasters sparked largely by earthquakes or climate-and weather-related events, almost three times more than by conflict in the same year.

app55-13president-islamabad.jpgISLAMABAD, Jun 13 (APP): A meeting of heads of allied parties was held in the Presidency Wednesday night with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani in chair and discussed coalition matters and the current situation in the country. The meeting was attended by Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Senator Haji Adeel Ahmed Khan, Senator Afrasiab Khattak, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Senator Babar Khan Ghouri, Senator Mir Israrullah Zehri, Senator Abbas Khan Afridi and Munir Khan Orakzai. Spokesperson to President Senator Farhatullah Babar was also present. The President briefed the meeting on his visit to Beijing for participation in the SCO Summit and his bilateral meetings with the Presidents of Iran, Afghanistan and China.
