UN chief condemns killing of dozens of worshippers in eastern Iraq -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 23 (APP): UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has condemned in "the strongest terms" the attack on a mosque in eastern Iraq, and called on all Iraqi authorities to ensure that the incident is properly investigated and its perpetrators held to account.


UN chief urges Russia, Ukraine to exercise restraint after aid convoy crosses border -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 23 (APP): Reacting to reports that a Russian aid convoy crossed on Friday the Ukrainian border without Kiev's permission, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged all sides to continue to work together to ensure that humanitarian supplies reach those most in need.


Death toll in Syria civil war over 191,000: UN -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 22 (APP): The number of people killed in Syria is double the number documented a year ago, the U.N. human rights chief Friday announced, criticizing the international community for failing to stop the “killers, destroyers and torturers” that have torn the country apart.


Pakistan urges UNSC to make full use of diplomacy for resolution of conflicts -
UNITED NATIONS, Aug 22 (APP): At the United Nations Security Council today Pakistan urged the Council to make full use of the preventive diplomacy tools at its disposal under Chapter VI "especially mediation, arbitration, inquiry, judicial settlement, involvement of regional organizations,the Secretary General's good offices" to defuse tensions and  to resolve conflicts that were simmering just below the surface but threaten to explode.


US favors dialogue, peaceful expression of view -
WASHINGTON, Aug 21 (APP): The United States thinks there needs to be a political dialogue, in the face of marches by Opposition parties in Islamabad, and it also favors peaceful expression of view, the State Department said Thursday.

HYDERABAD, May 27, (APP): Speaker of the National Assembly Dr.Fehmida Mirza has said that her decision regarding the disqualification of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani was based on the law and Constitution of the country.She was addressing an inauguration ceremony in Badin on Sunday.The Speaker said the government was utilizing all its resources to normalise the situation in Balochistan.She appealed the media to play its role in removing the people’s sense of deprivation.Regarding the law and order situation in Karachi, Dr Fehmida Mirza said the government had set up a ministerial committee comprising four federal ministers to take all the stakeholders on board for a lasting solution to the problem.
