Overseas Pakistani send $ 37.6 bln in last four years: NA told |

ISLAMABAD, May 4 (APP): Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar on Friday informed the National Assembly that the overseas Pakistani sent $ 37.65 billion in last four years. Replying to a question during Question Hour, he said that they sent $ 7,811.43 million in fiscal year 2008-09, $ 8,905.90 million in 2009-10, $ 11,200.97 million in 2010-11 and $ 9,735.56 million in 2011-12 till March 2012.
Naveed Qamar said that the overseas Pakistani are our asset and are playing active role in country’s development and prosperity by sending huge remittance. Acknowledging their contribution, the PPP government decided to give them right of vote for the first time in history of the country, he added.
To another question, the minister said that currency notes valuing Rs.1166 billion have been printed during the last four years.
He said that various steps were taken to overcome the problem of increasing inflation. Through right monetary policy inflation has been contained to 10.8 per cent in March 11 as compared to 13 per cent in the comparable period of the last year.
