PNF GC approves budget of Rs. 9 million
ISLAMABAD, April 16 (APP): A budget of Rs 9 million for the year of 2014-15 was approved in the General Council Meeting of Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) held here at committee room of Pakistan Sports Board on Wednesday.  The meeting was held under the chairmanship of President PNF Zafar Iqbal Awan. All affiliated units attended the meeting.  The house also gave the approval for the sports activity for the year 2014-15 including National Beach Net Ball Championship allotted to Sindh Netball Association to be held in May 2014 in Karachi.
 
Wasti asks Pak players not to bother about IPL
ISLAMABAD, April 16 (APP): Former Test cricketer Wajahatullah Wasti on Wednesday advised Pakistani players not to bother about not playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). There is a lot more for them in the world of cricket, where they should try to prove their worth, he said while talking to APP.
 
Indo-Pak clash, dire need of subcontinent: Zaheer Abbas
ISLAMABAD, Apr 15 (APP): Asian Bradman Zaheer Abbas while praising the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi for doing all-out efforts for the Indo-Pak clash said Pakistan and India face-to-face is just like the Ashes series of the subcontinent.After an ICC meeting in Dubai, the PCB announced it would conditionally support the reforms to be officially signed in June this year which Sethi said will bring major benefits to Pakistan. Sethi had said that Pakistan will get eight years of series, including archrivals India, earning $300 million, after agreeing to the revamp of the game’s governing body.
 
Keeping Pakistani players away from IPL is a great blow: Wasim Akram
ISLAMABAD, Apr 15 (APP): Former captain Wasim Akram feels keeping Pakistani players away from the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a great blow for cricket-lovers saying mixing sports and politics won’t do any good. Pakistani players have been barred from participating in the IPL since 2008. Howevevr, Akram feels this is the right time for the Pakistani players to be reinstated, for the benefit of subcontinental sports fans.Akram, who is the bowling coach for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), said whenever Pakistan and India players have played either against each other  or together, they have attracted lot of crowds. “I hope in near future Pakistani players will be able to participate because we have great talent,” Pakpassion.net quoted Akram as saying.
 
21th Jeevay Pakistan cycle rally to start on April 23
MUZAFFARGARH, Apr 13 (APP): The 21th Jeevay Pakistan cycle rally will leave for Islamabad, here from April 23, Wednesday. The rally titled ‘Anti-drugs and love with sports’ will start from Missali Public school Muzaffargarh and conclude at Jinnah Stadium Islamabad on May 8. A meeting with Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Division, Suhail Shahzad was held in the chair at Commissioner’s office on Sunday to review arrangements for the rally. Commissioner DG Khan lauded for holding cycle rally and urged the participants of the rally to play their role in eradicating menace of narcotics and promote sports and other positive activities.

Eight Pakistani cities have 47 sister cities around the world PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, May 16 (APP): Eight Pakistani cities have 47 sister cities in various parts of Asia, Europe, North America and Africa.Shanghai, Beijing, Chicago, Houston, Ankara, Istanbul, Ankara,Manchester,Glasgow, Rome, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Amman, Dhaka, Beirut, Kolkata,Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent are some of the important cities which are sisters of cities in Pakistan.According to official sources, Istanbul was the first city which became sister city of Lahore in 1975 and the latest addition is Saint Petersburg, Russia which became sister city of Karachi this month.

During the recent visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to Russia, it was decided to declare St Petersburg and Karachi as sister cities to further boost bilateral trade and commercial ties.
Karachi is the largest city, main sea port and financial hub of Pakistan with a population of about 15 million.
While Saint Petersburg is often described as the most Western city of Russia. With over one million people, Saint Petersburg is the northernmost city in Russia.
Saint Petersburg is also home to The Hermitage, the largest art museum in the world. A large number of foreign consulates, international corporations,banks and other businesses are located in Saint Petersburg.
The cities are made sisters to promote educational, business, professional and cultural ties and expand youth exchanges.
Istanbul, Turkey,  Sariwon, North Korea, Xi’an, China, Kortrijk, Belgium,Fez, Morocco, C¢rdoba, Spain, Bukhara and Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Isfahan, Iran,Mashad, Iran, Glasgow, Scotland, Chicago, United States, Belgrade, Serbia,Fresno, United States, Krakow, Poland, Coimbra, Portugal and Dushanbe, Tajikistan are sister cities of Lahore.
Port Louis, Mauritius, Kolkata, India, Shanghai, China, Hong Kong, Jeddah,Saudi Arabia, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Istanbul, Turkey, Beirut, Lebanon, Dhaka,Bangladesh, Chicago, United States, Izmir, Turkey, Houston, United States,Manama, Bahrain, Pristina, Kosovo, Dubai, UAE and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are sister cities of Karachi.
Amman, Jordan, Ankara, Turkey, Beijing, China and Seoul, South Korea are sister cities of Islamabad.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and Cairo, Egypt are sister cities of Rahim Yar Khan.Manchester, England and Kobe, Japan are sister cities of Faisalabad while Redditch, England is a sister town of Gujar Khan.
Urumqi, China and Makassar, Indonesia are sister cities of Peshawar and Rome, Italy and Konya, Turkey are sister cities of Multan.
