LAHORE, Jan 13 (APP): Punjab Governor Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa is the 33rd Governor of the province who succeeded Salman Taseer, gunned down by his body-guard in Islamabad.Hailing from Dera Ghazi Khan, a district in the Southern Punjab, Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa’s elevation as Punjab Governor symbolises the fulfilment of PPP’s manifesto of the empowerment of the less priviliged as well as development of backward areas in the country.
Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa, a
close aide of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, is an astute politician
as well as a lawyer leader who rendered valuable services during the
lawyers movement launched for the restoration of judiciary.
Following is a brief profile of the Punjab Governor sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa:
Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa was born in Dera Ghazi Khan on 25 July 1946.
He got his early education from schools in D.G. Khan and Lahore while graduated from the Punjab University.
Khosa won distinction in the
matriculation and L.L.B examination during his academic careeer.Blessed
with rare rhetoric abilities, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa remained the best
english debator in the Punjab University.
As a student leader, Khosa was elected as President Punjab University Law College Student Union during 1965-66.
As a lawyer Khosa has the unique
distinction of being the first President of the Multan High Court Bar
Association and was elected three time as President.
He also was elected member of
Pakistan Bar Council on three occasions and Chairman Executive Committee
and Appeals committee as well as Members Tribunal of the council.
Khosa, remained PPP Senator from March 2003 to March 2009.
He also served as Attorney General
of Pakistan as well as adviser to the Prime Minsiter on Information
Khosa was in the forefront of the
lawyers movement who opposed the Musharraf dictatorial regime tooth and
nail and shed his blood for the restoration of judiciary on March 12,

Profile of Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan
Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan (born March 2, 1963) studied in the prestigious
Dow Medical College, Karachi. As a student he had a penchant for
politics and emerged as a prominent leader of a popular student
organization, APMSO, a student wing of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement
The MQM is the third largest political party of Pakistan and the
second largest in Sindh, having representation in the Federal Parliament

was the youngest Minister in the Provincial cabinet of Sindh, holding

Masood Kausar takes oath as KP Governor
PESHAWAR, Feb 10 (APP): Barrister Syed Masood Kausar took oath as Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) here on Thursday.
The oath taking ceremony was held at the lawn of Governor House.
Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Ejaz Afzal administered the oath to the new Governor. Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti was also present on the occasion. Earlier, Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir read commission of appointment issued by President Asif Ali Zardari.
Large number of people, including politicians, judges, senators, ministers, MNAs, MPAs, government officials, lawyers and mediamen attended the ceremony.
Talking to newsmen after taking oath of office, Governor Masood Kausar said that restoring peace in tribal area would be his priority. He said he would fully concentrate on the development of Fedreally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) as the region had received much importance from the founding leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
He said he would work with the leadership of Awami National Party (ANP) to put the province on the path of development and prosperity.
Senior Minister Bashir Bilour, speaking on the occasion, termed the appointment of Barrister Masood Kausar as Governor a good omen, saying that such a person was appointed on the post who had close relations with the people of the province.
Bashir Bilour said they would jointly work with Masood Kausar for the resolution of problems of the province and FATA, especially militancy.
He said that Barrister Masood Kausar was a seasoned politician who had rendered great sacrifices for the cause of democracy and was even jailed for the purpose.
Profile of Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulifiqar Ali Magsi
Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi is an influential tribal figure, a seasoned politician and has a long history in politics.Born on February 14, 1954 in Jhal Magsi, he is a qualified person and the chief of his tribe, Magsi. He also served as the Chief Minister Balochistan from 1993 to 1996.
He started his political career in 1977 when he was elected as the Provincial Assembly Member from his native constituency PB-32 as an independent candidate. Similarly, in 1985 and 1988 general elections, he retained his seat and represented his constituency in the Provincial Assembly.
Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has served on key positions in the provincial government from time to time and held the portfolios of Education and Planning & Development and Home and Tribal Affairs Department.
In 1993 general elections, Nawab Magsi was again elected as Balochistan Assembly Member from Jhal Magsi and this time he was elected as Leader of the House as he secured vote of confidence of 26 out of the total 42 members of the House.
In 2008 gneral elections, the people of PB-32 again reposed their confidence in Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi but he resigned from the seat as he was appointed Governor Balochistan.
During his long political career, Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has represented Pakistan and the province in a number of countries including United States of America, United Kingdom, Germany, China, Greece, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates.
