LAHORE, Nov 24 (APP) - Pakistani American, Nabeel Ahmed who stepped down as the Senior Vice President of USACA, will be contesting for the office of President during the elections of of the body March next year Nabeel, the only Senior Vice President of USACA, resigned few days ago after expressing frustration and confusion on the actions or lack of actions of some important members of USACA under the President Dainty’s leadership.“Yes, Nabeel has made up his mind to contest the election and surely he will be contesting for the Presidentship of USACA “,said the sources close to Nabeel while talking to APP from Detroit on Wednesday. They said Nabeel has decided to contest the elections in the larger interest of USA cricket and to safeguard the future of cricket in America.

As the SVP USACA,Nabeel contributed a lot in the overall development of the game besides sponsoring a number of cricket events at different levels and his passion and services for the cause of USA cricket are known to every cricket related person in America.
“ Nabeel was not happy the way, USACA was being run by the President and Chief Executive Officer Don Lockerbie who was sacked with immediate effect hours before a board meeting in Florida last week “,they added.
In his resignation Nabeel wrote “ My resignation is out of protest at the lack of action by the important members of the Board, the Executive, and division in the Board. My desire was to unify the board so that it can take united stand on any given issue but unfortunately due to the division in the board it was not possible. I tried my best but I did not succeed”.
The sources claimed Nabeel enjoys the support of majority of the important members of the USACA who has assured him their all out support if he comes forward and contest the Presidential elections of the body.
They said the USACA board’s finances remain a concern, and despite official denials it is widely believed the ill-fated tournament in Florida in May featuring New Zealand and Sri Lanka landed USACA with considerable losses.
“ He (Nabeel) was not happy with all that he tried to raise this issue and other issues pertaining to the promotion of cricket in USA in Board’s meeting time and again but the sitting President and the outgoing Chief Executive did not take measures to address Nabeel’s grievances “,said the sources.
They said to run the USACA on professional lines and to start an IPL-type tournament and to hold international tournaments at American soil requires a team of professionals and devoted individuals who can make benefit from the support the Games Ruling Body,The ICC has extended to USACA to promote cricket and to have international cricketing events in USA.
“ We are confident that Nabeel will win the next elections because he has the vision and ideas to duly fit in the role of President and to do what has not done in the past for the betterment of cricket in USA “,they added.
