President calls for FIA enquiry into complaints of Hajis |

ISLAMABAD, Nov 19 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday directed the FIA to investigate reports of messing up accommodation arrangements made for Hajis in Makkah by the Ministry of Religious Affairs as well as the complaints of non provision of basic facilities to the Hajis.Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that the President taking note of the reports of huge mismanagement in hiring accommodation and the complaints of non-provision of basic facilities to Hajis has directed that the report of the FIA investigations into these complaints be submitted without delay.
He said that a number of Hajis had sent their complaints direct from Makkah to the Presidency.
In another development, the President also called for a report from the
Ministry of Minorities Affairs over the sentencing to death of a
Christian woman for alleged blasphemy in Nankana Sahib last Monday, he
said.
Aasia Bibi, a resident of Nankana Sahib in Punjab was sentenced to death
under sections 295 B and C of the Pakistan Penal code, following an
incident in which an altercation took place between her and her
co-workers over the issue of fetching water from fields.
Media reports have said that initially the police took her into
protective custody to shield her from an angry mob and later registered a
case of blasphemy against her.
Farhatullah Babar said that the President asked Minorities Affairs Minister Shahbaz Bhatti to submit a report within three days.
