Pakistan’s Rizwan drives Shama club to Bashir Bilour Shaheed Cricket final
PESHAWAR, Apr 20 (APP): Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman Muhammad Rizwan steered Shama club to final with his fashion knock of 90 runs including 11 boundaries and three sixes against Sarhad Gymkhana in the second semi-final of the ongoing Bashir Bilour Shaheed Memorial Cricket Tournament being played at Gymkhana ground on Sunday.

PESHAWAR, Apr 20 (APP): University of Punjab, Lahore University, Islamia Bahawalpur, University of Karachi, and Sargodha University moved to second round after registering victories against their respective rivals on the opening day of the All-Pakistan Inter-University Cricket Championship organizing by the Directorate of Sports Abdul Wali Khan University at five different venues in Peshawar and Mardan on Sunday.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 12 (APP): Many top Pakistani businessmen during their intensive discussion  with their Danish counterparts, have explored various avenues of cooperation as the latter have been showing interest in doing business in Pakistan in the field of energy and agriculture.  Their discussion took place during the first ever Pakistan business seminar at Denmark which was organized by the Danish Chamber of Commerce and the Danish Pakistani Business Council and Pakistan embassy for providing them an opportunity to have exchange of views on business prospects, said a statement received here.
 
State Bank releases Payment Systems Review PDF Print E-mail
KARACHI, April 11 (APP): State Bank of Pakistan has released the payment systems review for the quarter ending October to December 2013. The report aimed to review recent developments in the area of large and retail value payment systems in the country, said a SBP release here on Friday. During the quarter under review , Pakistan Real-Time Interbank Settlement Mechanism (PRISM) , the large value payment system of the country processed 141,667 payments worth over Rs 35 trillion. This showed an increase of 8.2% and 15% in volume and value respectively compared to the previous quarter.
 
Trade gap shrinks 5.5% in 9 months PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, Apr 11 (APP): Pakistan’s trade deficit narrowed by 5.49 percent during first three quarters of current fiscal year as exports expanded by 6.06 percent while imports witnessing slight growth of 0.86 percent as compared to the same period of last year. On year-on-year basis, the trade deficit decreased by 11.98 percent in March 2014 when compared to the deficit of the same month of last year, according to the latest data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

SECP approves “Rule Book” for Karachi Stock Exchange PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, Apr 10 (APP): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has accorded its approval to “Rule Book” for the Karachi Stock Exchange Limited (KSE). The “Rule Book” was approved in terms of Section 34(1) of 1969 the Securities and Exchange Ordinance, said a statement here on Thursday. This is a landmark achievement and a significant step towards improving and strengthening the regulatory regime applicable to the capital market in Pakistan.
 
WB projects 4 percent Real GDP growth for Pakistan in FY 14 PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, Apr 9 (APP): The World Bank (WB) has projected 4 percent growth in Pakistan’s Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the fiscal year 2013-14 as the economy has started to show signs of improvement. The Bank in its recent report “South Asia Economic Focus Spring 2014, Time to Refocus”, launched on Wednesday, said that Real GDP is projected to grow at 3.6-4.0 percent in FY14. The Report attributed the growth to dynamic manufacturing and service sectors, better energy availability and early revival of  investors’ confidence.
