Match officials for Champions Trophy semis announced
KARACHI, June 18 (APP): The International Cricket Council (ICC) Tuesday announced the match officials for the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy. England will take on South Africa in the first semi-final on Wednesday at The Oval.The on-field umpires appointed will be Kumar Dharmasena and Rod Tucker, with Bruce Oxenford and Steve Davis third and fourth umpires, respectively.

Pakistan hockey training camp commences
KARACHI, June 18 (APP): Training camp of Pakistan probables in preparations for Hockey World League began here at Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) Stadium on Tuesday.Former Pakistan captain and Olympic half back Waseem Ahmed did not report for training as he was getting treatement after an accident, Manager/Chief coach Akhtar Rasool told APP during team’s afternoon training session.

CNS Open set new mark with Rs 5.1 mln prize money
KARACHI, June 18 (APP): The 18th edition of Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Golf Championship will be staged at Karachi Golf Club from June 27 to 30, Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) announced on Tuesday.“CNS will surpass Pakistan Open Golf prize money of Rs five million by one lakh”, Vice President of PGF Taimur Hassan Amin told APP.This is richest-ever prize money ever offered in a domestic golf event”, he added.

Rameez proposes committee of ex-players to put national team on winning track
 ISLAMABAD, Jun 18 (APP): Former skipper Rameez Raja has proposed to immediately form a committee, comprising erstwhile cricketers to suggest and recommend ways to put the national outfit back on winning track.  Rameez, who has also been critical after the team’s poor showing in  the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2013 where they failed to win a single match, said that the first step that needed to be taken to get Pakistan cricket out of a crisis was to form a committee of respected former cricketers.

LAHORE, Jun 9 (APP): The Punjab government on Saturday allocated Rs 1.5 billion for subsidy on the Yellow Cab Scheme out of the total sum of Rs 34 billion earmarked for sunsidies in the provincial budget 2012-13.
 
Govt earmarks Rs 11,250 mln for irrigation sector PDF Print E-mail
LAHORE, June 9 (APP): Punjab government has allocated a sum of Rs 11,250 million for the development of Irrigation sector in the fiscal year 2012-13. Allocation for the irrigation is Rs 400 million more than the last year. According to budget documents, Rs 4,399 million would be spent on 9 new schemes while Rs 11,250 million on ongoing schemes. However, foreign aid of Rs 3,617 million would be utilized for the new and ongoing schemes in irrigation sector.
 
Rs 6,650 mln for higher education PDF Print E-mail
LAHORE, June 9 (APP): The Punjab government has allocated an amount of Rs 6,650 million for higher education for fiscal year 2012-13. An amount of Rs 3,127.491 million has been allocated for 234 ongoing schemes while 13 new schemes will be started this year and Rs 3,522.509 million will be spent on it in the ADP 2012-13. An amount of Rs 917.817 million will be spent for the provision of missing facilities in various secondary schools in the province. Only Rs 150 million have been increased for higher education budget as Rs 6,500 million were allocated in the last year.
 
Rs 10360 mln allocated for roads in Punjab budget PDF Print E-mail
LAHORE, June 9 (APP):- Punjab Government has allocated Rs 10360 millions under block allocations for road development in the annual budget 2012-13. According to the budget documents, this amount would be spent on new development schemes besides Rs 6490 millions for regular new schemes. The government would also spent an amount of Rs 93425 millions on ongoing schemes of roads in various parts of the province. The schemes under Block allocation include: Rs 2000 mln for construction of Farm to Market roads, Rs 2000 mln for rehabilitation of provincial roads, Rs 2360 mln for construction of new dualization of roads and Rs 4000 mln for unfunded/fast moving schemes. A grand total of Rs. 110275.157 millions would be spent on road sector in the next fiscal year.
