LAHORE, Nov 19 (APP)- Pakistan breezed into the semi finals of the handball competition of the Asian Beach games overcoming Bahrain in  2-1 sets chalking up its fifth successive victory on Wednesday at Phuket beach.
 
Hafeez to undergo test on his bowling action on Nov 24
KARACHI, Nov 19 (APP): All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is returning back home from where he shall proceed to Loughborough University, the latest  of ICC accredited facilities for testing on bowlers with suspect actions,  on November 23 for his appointment for tests on Nov 24, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday.

1.464 million to get Rs 8,167 million relief under new tax system PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, June 2 (APP): Under the new income rates  announced by the government in Budget 2012-13, over 1.464 million taxpayers will get benefit of Rs 8,167 million. According to a document distributed among newsmen during the post-budget press conference of Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh here on Saturday, the 51,032 salaried persons with income between Rs 350,000 to 400,000 will  gent tax benefit of Rs 354 million, while 6,300 taxpayers in the income group of Business Individuals with Rs 350,000 to Rs.400,000 will get relief of Rs.145 million.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 2 (APP): Minister for Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on Saturday said the government was well aware of problems, being faced by the public employees due to price hike and would continue to provide relief to them. The price indices during the ongoing year remained at 11%, while a 20% rise had been given in the salaries of employees in the budget for the year 2012-13, he said while speaking at a post-budget conference here at a local hotel.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 2 (APP): To improve the agricultural productivity in the country by using the cheaper resources of energy, the government has decided to provide subsidy on the installation of solar tub wells. Addressing the post-budget press conference here on Saturday, Federal Minister for Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh said that the introduction of solar tube-well system in the country would help reduce dependency on high pricing fuels for the agri-sector.

ISLAMABAD June 02 (APP): Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on Saturday said that the President and the Prime Minister houses conserve electricity. Answering a question regarding power load-shedding at the President and the PM houses, the Finance Minister said certain offices had certain requirements. But the PM and President houses were well aware of the country’s needs and conserve energy. “Uninterrupted power availability at these houses does not mean that they lit 500 bulbs. They are cognizant of the power crisis and do not waste energy,” he added.

ISLAMABAD, June 2 (APP): Federal Minister for Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on Saturday said that the government was not hiding any figures or facts about the budget. “We are not hiding anything. We have put forth all details, including our shortcomings and successes,” he said in response to a volley of questions by media persons at the post-budget press conference. “Our aim is to push the country forward and lead to economic stability. But, the people, who owe the responsibility, have to be careful in their remarks on certain issue,” he said answering a question regarding dealing with the IMF and payments under the CSF and Kerry-Lugar Bill.
