Army excels in National Taekwondo
KARACHI, Apr 16 (APP): Pakistan Army swept all the 30 gold medals at stake in the National Taekwondo Championship at the Rangers Training Centre & School here, said a news release issued here on Wednesday. Army martial arts players dominated the event from start to finish with superb technique and power.
 
First round of Inter-Media cricket tournament ends
ISLAMABAD, Apr 16 (APP): The Inter-Media Cricket Tournament organized by Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) continues in full swing here. The tournament, organized in collaboration with National Press Club, comprises of teams belonging to national and international print and electronic media. The first round saw thrilling matches between various teams which competed fiercely to reach the second round.

Army martial arts players dominated the event from start to finish with superb technique and power.  Army player ended with 30 golds, two silvers and as many bronze medals to accumulate 797 points.
 
Sports diplomacy to highlight Pakistani talent in UAE
ISLAMABAD, April 16 (APP): Prime Minister’s Special Envoy, Ambassador Javed Malik said on Wednesday sports played an important role in connecting people and promoting a sense of healthy interaction aimed at building positive relations between the communities. “We always support such initiatives that bring people together,” he  said while speaking as the guest of honour alongwith diplomats from Sri Lanka and India who were joined by the Chairman of Dubai Cricket Council at the launching ceremony of T-20 Super stars cricket tournament being organized in Dubai under the auspices of Dubai Cricket Council.
 
Kabir looking forward to build Afghanistan team for Cricket World Cup
KARACHI, Apr 16 (APP): Afghanistan chief coach Kabir Khan said on Wednesday that he was looking forward to build the team for next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup. “Its my endeavour to build-up Afghanistan team for World Cup showpiece event,” he told APP on arrival here from Peshawar. 2015 World Cup is co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in February-March and Afghanistan is among the qualfiers for the event.

pm_agreement.jpgISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (APP): Pakistan and China Saturday inkedanother 22 agreements between the business sectors of the two countries, aimed at expanding economic ties and raising the total volume of expected trade to around US 25 billion dollars through 37 agreements.Premier Wen Jiabao and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani witnessed the signing of 17 agreements and 5 Memorandums of Understanding during the Business Forum convened specifically to help the two countries achieve the target of US 18 billion dollars by 2015.The agreements pertain to cooperation in space and upper atmosphere research, chambers of federations, agro chemicals, food,seafood, agriculture, seed research and import export of machinery.

Wen Jianbao to be first Chinese premier to address parliament PDF Print E-mail
 ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (APP): Premier Wen Jiabao will be the first Chinese leader, and 6th world dignitary to address the joint sitting of the Parliament on Sunday.Five foreign dignitaries who had earlier addressed the joint sitting of the Parliament include current Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, former Sri Lankan Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike, Ex-Turkish President Kenan Evran, former Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Queen Elizabeth II of Britain.Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza will preside over the session.Governors, Chief Ministers of all provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan, Speakers of all provincial assemblies including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), President and Prime Minister AJK, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief Justice of Federal Shariat Court, Chief Election Commission, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee and all services chiefs, all heads of constitutional organizations, Governor  State Bank of Pakistan, dignitaries having status of state ministers, Islamabad based diplomats, senior officials and dignitaries have been invited to attend the event.

PML-N leadership calls on Chinese Premier PDF Print E-mail
 ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (APP): Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Saturday called on the visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao here and discussed matters relating to bilateral interest.Nawaz Sharif, during the meeting that lasted for about an hour, urged the Chinese Premier to further enhance and expand China's participation in Pakistan's economic growth and development.The Chinese Premier and PML-N Quaid recalled the unique nature of Sino-Pak relations and time-tested friendship between the two neighbouring countries.

SECP terms MoU with China, a milestone in development of capital markets PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (APP): The Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has termed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Pakistan and China as a significant milestone in the development of the capital markets of both the countries.SECP Commissioner Tahir Mahmood  said here  Saturday that “The increasingly expanding securities markets today require cooperation among regulatory bodies of the capital markets at the international level for adequate protection of investor rights and the MOU is a step towards building a strong cooperative arrangement between the SECP and the CSRC”, .

AJK business community hails Pak-China agreements, MoUs PDF Print E-mail
MIRPUR (AJK), Dec 18 (APP): Elite class representing various sections of life, including political and business communities, have, on Saturday, welcomed the signing of nine agreements and four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between China and Pakistan during the ongoing visit of the Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao. These quarters have described Chinese Premier visit, a land mark in the history of the country to bring both Islamabad and Beijing more closer to each other, besides strengthening the already closed brotherly and friendly relations between the two countries.
