Match officials for Champions Trophy semis announced
KARACHI, June 18 (APP): The International Cricket Council (ICC) Tuesday announced the match officials for the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy. England will take on South Africa in the first semi-final on Wednesday at The Oval.The on-field umpires appointed will be Kumar Dharmasena and Rod Tucker, with Bruce Oxenford and Steve Davis third and fourth umpires, respectively.

KARACHI, June 18 (APP): Training camp of Pakistan probables in preparations for Hockey World League began here at Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) Stadium on Tuesday.Former Pakistan captain and Olympic half back Waseem Ahmed did not report for training as he was getting treatement after an accident, Manager/Chief coach Akhtar Rasool told APP during team’s afternoon training session.

CNS Open set new mark with Rs 5.1 mln prize money
KARACHI, June 18 (APP): The 18th edition of Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Golf Championship will be staged at Karachi Golf Club from June 27 to 30, Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) announced on Tuesday.“CNS will surpass Pakistan Open Golf prize money of Rs five million by one lakh”, Vice President of PGF Taimur Hassan Amin told APP.This is richest-ever prize money ever offered in a domestic golf event”, he added.

Rameez proposes committee of ex-players to put national team on winning track
 ISLAMABAD, Jun 18 (APP): Former skipper Rameez Raja has proposed to immediately form a committee, comprising erstwhile cricketers to suggest and recommend ways to put the national outfit back on winning track.  Rameez, who has also been critical after the team’s poor showing in  the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2013 where they failed to win a single match, said that the first step that needed to be taken to get Pakistan cricket out of a crisis was to form a committee of respected former cricketers.

Chinese Premier to be conferred on Nishan-e-Pakistan PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, May 21 (APP): Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who is arriving here on Wednesday on a two-day official visit, will be conferred on the highest award of Nishan-e-Pakistan.According to Foreign Office, the visit of Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, from May 22-23 will  further strengthen the existing strong Pak-China bilateral relations.After his arrival on Wednesday, the Chinese Premier will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, who will host a luncheon for him at the Presidency. Foreign Office spokesman Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry while giving details of the Chinese Premier’s visit, said that he would hold talks with the President and the Prime Minister which will be followed by a joint press stakeout. The Prime Minister will host a banquet for the Chinese Premier in the evening. Premier Li Keqiang will also hold a joint meeting with the Senate Chairman and Speaker of the National Assembly and  address the Senate of Pakistan.Leaders of the political parties will also meet the Chinese Premier, said the spokesman.

Chinese delegation visits NUML PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, May 21 (APP): A high level Chinese delegation, which is in Pakistan ahead of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s visit, Tuesday visited the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) here. The visiting Chinese delegation headed by Chief Executive Confucius Institute Headquarters and Director General Hanban, Ms Xu Lin, comprised of renowned academicians, educationists and scholars. Ms Xu Lin, Xia Jianhui, Director of General Affairs-I Hanban, and Fanding, Division of Development of Planning. The students of Chinese Department of NUML, Roots International and other institutions of twin cities presented a colorful cultural show for the visiting guests. Students sang some popular Chinese songs, displayed martial arts, recited poems, and rendered a performence on different cultures of Pakistan on hit folk tunes. Earlier Ms Xu Lin, during her meeting with Rector NUML Maj Gen ® Masood Hasan and DG Brig Azam Jamal said, “We are satisfied with the achievements attained by Confoucius Institute Islamabad, NUML, in a short span of time. NUML is doing a tremendous job for learning and promotion of Chinese language”.

Six JF-17s to escort Chinese Premier’s aircraft PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, May 21 (APP): Six JF-17 Thunder fighters of Pakistan Air Force, will escort the aircraft of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang as it enters Pakistan air space on Wednesday, at the start of his two-day State visit.The JF-17s, symbol of deep Sino-Pakistan friendship, will guide the special Air China Boeing 747 aircraft of the Chinese dignitary to the Nur Khan Air Base, where a 21-gun salute will herald his arrival. The JF-17s will flypast over the air base.In a rare gesture of cordiality and warm feelings for China, President Asif Ali Zardari and the caretaker Prime Minister Justice ® Mir Hazar Khan Khoso will receive the chief guest, his first visit to Pakistan, since assuming office in March.Prime Minister Khoso will bid farewell to the Chinese Premier on Thursday and the six JF-17s will escort the dignitary’s aircraft till the aerial limits of Pakistan.
