LAHORE, Nov 19 (APP)- Pakistan breezed into the semi finals of the handball competition of the Asian Beach games overcoming Bahrain in  2-1 sets chalking up its fifth successive victory on Wednesday at Phuket beach.
 
Hafeez to undergo test on his bowling action on Nov 24
KARACHI, Nov 19 (APP): All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is returning back home from where he shall proceed to Loughborough University, the latest  of ICC accredited facilities for testing on bowlers with suspect actions,  on November 23 for his appointment for tests on Nov 24, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday.

Special security arrangements during PA budget session PDF Print E-mail
LAHORE, June 12 (APP): Special squads of rapid police force and commandoes have been deployed for further beefing up security in and around Punjab Assembly premises during budget session.Chief Security Officer,Punjab Assembly Sardar Muhammad Akbar Nasir told APP here Sunday that on the special directive of the Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal,extra ordinary security arrangements had been made to facilitate the legislators and media.For security,metal detector devices have also been installed within the house for all incoming and outgoing persons irrespective of their status.He said every one has to go through high tech walk through gates installed in front of the assembly.

Punjab govt presents Rs 654.96b budget PDF Print E-mail
LAHORE, June 10 (APP):- Punjab government presented a balanced budget of Rs 654.96 billion for fiscal year 2011-12 in the Punjab Assembly session started here on Friday.Giving break-up of the estimated General Revenue Receipts of Punjab government during next fiscal year, the Finance Minister Kamran Michael, in his budget speech, said that provincial government would receive a major share of its budget from the Federal Divisible Pool under National Finance Commission Award amounting to Rs 530.65 billion. The Punjab would earn an estimated revenues of Rs 88.51 billion from Provincial Tax and Rs 35.65 billion under the head of Provincial Non-Tax Revenue, he added.

Rs 1.6 bln earmarked for sports PDF Print E-mail
LAHORE, June 10 (APP): Under the annual development programme, an amount of Rs 1.6 billion has been earmarked for three new and 54 ongoing development schemes of sports in the Punjab annual budget 2011-12.According to the budget report, the new development schemes include: establishment of mini sports complex at Aashiana Housing Scheme, provision of new Astroturf in Lahore and block allocation for fast moving/unfunded and new schemes.
 
Rs 11,250 mln allocated for irrigation sector PDF Print E-mail
LAHORE, June 10 (APP):Punjab government has allocated a sum of Rs 11,250 million for the development of Irrigation sector in the fiscal year 2011-12.Allocation for the irrigation allocation is Rs 245 million more than the last year.According to budget documents, Rs 2,510 million would be spent on 20 new schemes while Rs 8,697 million on 43 ongoing schemes.However, foreign aid of Rs 5,383 million would be utilized for the new and ongoing schemes in irrigation sector.
 
Rs 2100 mln for Emergency Service PDF Print E-mail
LAHORE, June 10 (APP): The Punjab government has allocated an amount of Rs 2100 million for various schemes of Emergency Services in the budget for the fiscal year 2011-12.According to budget documents, Rs 849 million would be spent on three new schemes while Rs 1,251 million on six ongoing schemes.
