KARACHI, Apr. 18 (APP):  Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that fool proof security will be ensured to the Zimbabwe team during cricket matches in the metropolis, planned for next month.

PPP starts various energy projects: Sumsam PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, July 31 (APP): Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Syed Sumsam Bukhari on Tuesday said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led government had started various projects, including Bhasha Dam, to overcome energy crisis in the country.Talking to a private television channel, Sumsam said that after the completion of the projects the energy crisis would be ended, however, it would take time.He said that the regimes after the second tenure of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s government were responsible for the crisis, which did not launch any projects for power production. However, the present government has added 3200 MW electricity to the national grid, he added.Replying to a question, he said that the energy crisis was a national issue and all political parties should avoid to promote provincialism.He said that the subsidized units should be given to WAPDA employees rather than free units.“We should make planning for CNG usage. The country may face more energy shortage in future, if we don’t transfer vehicles back to the petrol and LPG,” he added.

ISLAMABAD, Jul 31 (APP): Federal Minister for Postal Services Sardar Umar Gorgaij on Tuesday said that the Pakistan Peoples Party government after coming into power, had taken many initiatives for the development of Balochistan.He said that the present government had announced Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package for providing relief to the people of the province.He said that the fedearl government had transferred the powers to the provinces through NFC Award.Talking to Pakistan Television channel, he said that all the issues of Balochistan should be settled through dialogue. Appreciating the efforts of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, he said that several projects had been initiated in different districts of Balochistan due to the personal interest of the PPP leadership. The minister said that the credit went to the PPP leadership, who struggled for the rights of the Baloch people, besides initiating different projects,including providing gas and electricity to make the area at par with other developed parts of the country.

WASHINGTON, July 31 (APP): The US nominee to be next ambassador to Pakistan Tuesday told Congress that he would strive to build on the opportunity provided by resumption of Pakistani supply routes for enhanced mutual cooperation, in the backdrop of several difficulties in the bilateral ties in recent years.Ambassador-designate Richard Olson told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in his confirmation hearing that the US-Pakistan relationship, though “extremely difficult” is “important for both of our nations.” Pakistan’s concerns about the future of Afghanistan post-2014 and the question of long-term US-engagement with both Pakistan and Afghanistan echoed in the discussion as members of the influential panel sought views of the two nominated American ambassadors - Olson to Islamabad and James B. Cunningham as next US ambassador to Afghanistan- at a joint testimony.

Shaukatullah, Deputy Chairman Senate Sabir Ali Baloch, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Malik Amad Khan, parliamentarians, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Khalid Shamim Wyne, Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt and senior government officials.

الرئيس زرداري ورئيس الوزراء اشرف يترأسان اجتماعا رفيع المستوى لمراجعة وضع الطاقة في البلاد

إسلام آباد: 31 يوليو 2012م ـ (واب ـ APP).

ترأس آصف علي زرداري الرئيس الباكستاني ورئيس الوزراء راجا برويز اشرف اجتماعا رفيع المستوى في القصر الرئاسي ليلة أمس، وذلك لمراجعة وضع الطاقة في البلاد، وقال فرحت الله بابر المتحدث باسم ديوان الرئاسة الباكستانية بأن الرئيس زرداري أعرب عن قلقه البالغ إزاء تفاقم النقص الحاد في الكهرباء وزيادة انقطاع التيار الكهربائي في البلاد، وأصدر توجيهاته إلى الوزارات المعنية بالتنسيق والجهود المكثفة لتخفيف انقطاع التيار الكهربائي، هذا وأكد الرئيس زرداري التزام حكومته بمعالجة أزمة النقص الحاد التي تواجهها البلاد في مجال الطاقة في الوقت الحالي، وأوضح أن الحكومة عاكفة على استغلال كافة الموارد الطبيعية المتاحة محليا لسد الطلب المتزايد على الطاقة.
