Pakistan victorious in squash quarterfinals
ISLAMABAD, Feb 6 (APP): Pakistan earned victories in squash quarter finals of the South Asian Games (Men & Women) played at Guwahati, India. In the Men Event (Individual) Farah Zaman (Pakistan) beat Ravindu H Laksiri (Sri Lanka) 11/8, 16/14, 11/9. Nasir Iqbal (Pakistan) beat Arhant Keshar Simha (Nepal) 11/4, 12/10, 11/0.
 
Irfan, Bacha to face Nouman, Taimur in Men Badminton doubles final
PESHAWAR, Feb 6 (APP): Irfan and Bacha Khan of Tarnab village will face Nouman and Taimur Khan of Palosia village in the final of the Peshawar District Inter-Club Men Badminton Championship played here at local Hujra at Landi Arbab, a suburban village of Peshawar, on Saturday. In the first semi-final Nouman and Taimur Khan defeated Sajid and Sana Ullah of Tehkal Payan by 3-1, the score was 21-18, 21-19, 21-16 and 21-19 while in the second semi-final Irfan and Bach outclassed Tahir and Arif of Landi Arbab village by 3-0, the score was 21-19, 21-15 and 21-19.
 
Aamer bags first hat-trick in PSL
ISLAMABAD, Feb 5 (APP): Mohammad Aamer becomes the first bowler to bag a hat-trick in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2016 after he dismissed Dwayne Bravo, Zohaib Khan and Kevon Cooper. It was the 19th over of the second match of PSL 2016, when Aamer entertained the crowd with PSL’s very first hat-trick, a private news channel reported.
 
Saleem Rajput elected chairman of Karachi Softball Association
KARACHI, Feb 5 (APP): Muhammad Saleem Rajput has been elected unanimously as chairman of the Karachi Softball Association. An announcement on Friday said that the decision to this effect was taken at the annual general body meeting of the Karachi Softball Association (KSA) chaired by its president Asif Azeem.
 
Board decides to review ICC’s constitution and governance structures
KARACHI, Feb 4 (APP): The International Cricket Council (ICC) Board considered amendments that had been made to the ICC’s constitution in 2014 and agreed that, ICC announced on Thursday. “In order to avoid any potential conflicts of interest and to follow best practice principles of good governance, it would seek to re-establish as quickly as possible the independent position of ICC Chairman,” world governing body announced in a statement.

555555.jpgMULTAN, Dec 31 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that political stability and strong parliament were vital to put an end to the game of musical chairs in the country.The Prime Minister was addressing a public meeting after laying foundation stone of expansion of four road schemes worth Rs 362.984 million, and a fly-over worth Rs 450 million at Tataypur village, some 30 kilometres off here.He said that history was a testimony that it was always the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) that struggled hard against the dictators and replaced dictatorial regimes by democratic set-up in the country.He said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave constitution to the country and the incumbent government restored it to its original form.

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 31 (APP): Pakistan will assume its seat on the U.N.Security Council, the world body’s power centre, on Sunday (Jan 1, 2012) as a non-permanent member for a two-year term. Pakistan was elected to 15-nation Council in a hard fought contest last October when 129 out of 193 members of the UN General Assembly voted for it.Kyrgyzstan, which had challenged Pakistan, was far behind with 55 votes.Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon, who spearheaded the campaign, has said Pakistan would play a constructive role in resolving key global issues that the Council is dealing with or may come up.Pakistan, he said, was committed to multilateralism and promoting the principles and purposes enshrined in the UN Charter. “We hope to play our usual role of taking on matters which affect the underdog, so as to speak,”

شرطة تعتقل على الإرهابيين ينتمون إلى طالبان

إسلام آباد: 31 ديسمبر 2011م ـ (واب ـ APP).

أفادت مصادر الشرطة بأن الشرطة بمساعدة وكالات مخابرات اعتقلت خمس إرهابيين ينتمون إلى طالبان باكستانية و صادرت من حوزتهم عبوات ناسفة و مادة متفجرة و أسلحة ثقيلة و أضافت المصادر نفسها بأن مجموعة هذه الإرهابيين متورطة في عمليات النهب في البنوك و الاختطاف وتم انتقالهم إلى مكان مجهول لإجراء تحقيقات .

زعيم حزب العوامي الوطني :فيدرالية تعزز عقب تعديل 18 في الدستور

إسلام آباد: 31 ديسمبر 2011م ـ (واب ـ APP).

قال اسفند يار ولي خان رئيس حزب العوامي الوطني بأن موافقة على التعديل الدستوري 18 عززت الفيدرالية و أضاف ولي خان بأن الرئيس الباكستاني آصف على زرداري تخلى عن صلاحياته لتعزيز البرلمان جاءت تصريحات أسفند يار ولي خان أثناء خطابه في التجمع الشعبي الكبير في مردان بمدينة بشاور و قال ولي خان بانه ليس هناك أي خطر لنظام الديمقراطي في البلاد مضيفا بأن الحكومة الديمقراطية الحالية ستكمل مدتها الدستورية و ستنعقد الانتخابات العامة القادمة في وقتها المقررة و أضاف ولي خان لو تخلى قيادات طالبان باكستانية عن أسلحتهم حكومة مستعدة لإجراء معهم المحادثات لتحقيق الأمن والسلام في المنطقة .

رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني حكومة ستحامي سيادة بلاد بأي ثمن مهما كان 

إسلام آباد: 31 ديسمبر 2011م ـ (واب ـ APP).

قال سيد يوسف رضا جيلاني رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني بأن الحكومة خادمة لدستور عام 1973م و أضاف جيلاني بأن الحكومة مع أحزاب ائتلاف ستحامي سيادة و سلامة البلاد بأي ثمن مهما كان جاءت تصريحات جيلاني خلال خطاب له عقب أداء مراسيم افتتاح لجسر في مدينة مولتان و أكد جيلاني بأن لا أحد يستطيع أن ينظر بنظرة سوء إلى باكستان و أشار جيلاني إلى أن الحكومة حزب الشعب الباكستانية شنت المشاريع التنموية من كراتشي إلى بيشاور تبلغ قيمتها إلى 150 بليون روبية و أضاف جيلاني بأنه تم إعادة الدستور لعام 1973م لصورته حقيقية و تم تعزيز المؤسسات في البلاد و قال جيلاني بأن الحكومة منحت حرية تامة للإعلام و تم تحرير القضاة مضيفا بأنه ليس هناك أي تحدي للمؤسسات والبلاد و أشار جيلاني إلى أن الحكومة الحالية اتخذت الخطوات الجادة نحو توقيف إمدادات الناتو و إخلاء قاعدة شمسي من القوات الأمريكية وفي معرض رده على السؤال قال جيلاني بأن الحكومة حزب الشعب الباكستاني يتمتع بشعبية .
