ISLAMABAD, July 22 (APP): India and Pakistan would not be participating in the September’s Asian Games giving a massive loss to the Games as their presence would have guaranteed massive interest and wide television coverage.

KARACHI, Aug. 30 (APP): The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Mr.  Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, has expressed deep concern over the target killing of lawyers and said that it is the duty of state to protect life, property, dignity and honour of the citizens under the constitution. According to a press release of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the CJP said this while talking to the representatives of different bar associations including Sindh Bar Council and Bar Associations of Malir, Kotri, Nawabshah, Hyderabad and Sanghar at call on meetings at Supreme Court branch registry, Karachi on Thursday.

SC stops Anti Corruption Punjab from arresting Malik Riaz PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (APP): The Supreme Court on Thursday stopped Punjab Anti Corruption Department from arresting real estate tycoon and former chief executive of Bahria Town Malik Riaz till a decision of the Lahore High Court over jurisdiction of two probe agencies in a land possession case. A two-Judge bench of Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry issued direction on a plea moved by Malik Riaz through his counsel Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan regarding possession of 400 acres of land.

TEHRAN, Aug 30 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari Thursday called for diversifying trade between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and to urgently remove the obstacles in way of having greater economic interaction of the two countries. During his meeting with Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa here at the sidelines of the 16th NAM Summit, the President expressed satisfaction that the trade volume between the two countries was following an upward trajectory. The meeting at the Conference Centre was also attended by Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
