Rashid, Rizwan get selectors' nod for Champions Trophy

Light rain likely at Punjab, KPK, Kashmir, GB PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, May 31 (APP):  Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday forecast very hot and dry weather for most parts of Punjab and Islamabad during the next 24 hours. However dust-thunderstorm and light rain is expected at isolated places of Upper Punjab including  Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore and Sargodha divisions during night time. Whereas Southern parts of Punjab will remain under the grip of severe heat wave conditions. According to the Synoptic Situation, seasonal low lies over North Balochistan and adjoining areas with its trough extending Southeastwards.

Federal Minister for Finance, Dr.Abdul Hafeez Shaikh launched the pre- budget document, highlighting the over all performance of economy during the out-going fiscal year, providing a realistic feedback and basis for planning. The survey covers development of all the important sectors of economy, including growth and investment, agriculture, manufacturing, mining, fiscal development, money and credit, capital markets and inflation and debt and liabilities.

ISLAMABAD, May 31 (APP): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Thursday that the ruling of Speaker National Assembly on the issue of disqualification of the Prime Minister, cannot be challenged according to the Constitution. He said the Speaker is not biased and remained neutral throughout the four years tenure. Talking to media, after attending National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting at Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), the Minister said that recently, the leader of the opposition also appreciated the role of the Speaker. 
 
Power shortfall further jumps to 6,400 MW PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, May 31 (APP): The electricity shortfall in the country on Thursday further jumped to 6,400 MW from 6,300 MW as the total generation was recorded as 11,842 MW against the 18,242 MW demand during the last 24 hours. According to the report on daily power generation and load-management position, the hydel generation stood at 4,054 MW, WAPDA thermal 1,549 MW and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) 6,239 MW. As many as 690 MW was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report added.
 
China moves a further step toward the yuan becoming a truly global currency PDF Print E-mail
BEIJING, May 31 (APP): The Bank of China (BOC), China’s third-largest lender, announced Thursday that it has been approved as one of the country’s first market makers in yuan-yen direct trading, which is set to start Friday.The BOC said in a statement that it will comply with its duties, quote both the buy and sell prices of the yuan against the Japanese currency on the interbank foreign exchange market and provide liquidity for the market.The BOC’s announcement came after HSBC Bank (China) Co., Ltd. said Wednesday that it was approved as a market maker in yuan-yen direct trading on China’s interbank market, reports Xinhua news. Mizuho Corporate Bank (China) Ltd., a subsidiary of the Japan-based Mizuho Corporate Bank, has also been granted the status, the Shanghai -based China Business News reported Thursday.
