ISLAMABAD, May 31 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Additional Judge of Peshawar High Court (PHC), Justice Azmatullah Malik, who passed away on Thursday. In a condolence message,the President prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.

ISLAMABAD, May 31 (APP): A delegation of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) led by Vice Chairman PBC Akhtar Hussain  called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at Prime Minister House Thursday and discussed constitutional and legal issues. The PBC’s delegation reiterated its stance that there should be trichotomy of power as laid down in the Constitution whereby each and every institution of the state should work within its domain and should not interfere in the working of other institution. Pakistan Bar Council emphasized that the cause of democracy would be best served and clash among institutions avoided if they exercised their powers as defined in the Constitution.
 
PM seeks detailed presentation on ERRA projects PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, May 31 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani directed the Deputy Chairman Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) to make a detailed presentation to him in the near future about the projects in hand and to be undertaken in future about rehabilitation of the people in earthquake hit areas. Major General Mohammad Azeem Asif, Deputy Chairman ERRA had called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the Prime Minister House on Thursday. The new Deputy Chairman said that during the period of democratic government, ERRA has completed over 8000 projects out of 13000 in 12 sectors including completing reconstruction of 600,000 seismically safe houses in the earthquake affected regions of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.
 
Manufacturing sector grew by 3.6 % PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, May 31 (APP): The manufacturing sector posted a growth rate of 3.56 percent during the current fiscal year July-March 2011-12 as against the growth of 2.96 percent during same period of last month, the Economic Survey of Pakistan 2011-12 revealed here on Thursday. The Large Scale Manufacturing (LSM) sector has showed modest improvement in July-March 2011-12 as the Quantum Index of Manufacturing (QIM) increased by 1.05 percent against the target of 2.0 percent compared to growth of 0.98 percent during the same period last year.
 
Agri-sector depicts 3.1 percent growth PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, May 31 (APP): During the year 2011-12, the overall performance of agriculture sector exhibited 3.1 percent growth mainly due to positive growth in agriculture related sub sectors, except minor crops. The Economic Survey 2011-12 launched here on Thursday revealed that the major crops accounted for 31.9 percent of agricultural value added and experienced a growth of 3.2 percent. The agriculture sector during last fiscal year registered negative growth of 0.2 percent in 2011.
