Asif confident of Pakistan doing well in Asian Team Snooker
KARACHI, May 22 (APP): Reigning World Champion Muhammad Asif was confident of doing well in inaugural Asian Team Snooker and 6-Red Snooker Championship being held Doha (Qatar) from May 24 to 30.
“All our players like Sajjad, Hamza and Majid are in a good nick and are in the best frame of mind to do well in Doha event”, Muhammad Asif told APP in an interview on Wednesday.

National ranking boxing tournament next month
LAHORE, May 22 (APP): National ranking boxing tournament will be held from
June 20 at Hyderabad under the aegis of Pakistan Boxing Federation.
“It will be a top national level boxing activity being held after the
elections of the present regime of the PBF,” said Secretary, PBF, Iqbal Hussain
while talking to APP here on Wednesday.

spot-fixing scandal as a cause to faint the image of the game of cricket and has
stone the ongoing Indian Premier League.

Sultan for evolving national consensus on Kashmir, nuclear programme
ISLAMABADi, March 31 (APP): Former AJK Prime Minister and leader of PPP (Azad Kashmir) Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary on Saturday called for evolving national consensus on the Kashmir issue and nuclear programme in the backdrop of present geo-political situation in the region.
We can not only meet the present challenges facing the country but also achieve the desired goals by evolving the consensus, he said while addressing a huge gathering of PPP workers at Irani Hall, Dubai (UAE).

President condoles death of Arbab Dost Muhammad
KARACHI, March 31 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Arbab Dost Muhammad, son of former federal minister Arbab Niyaz Muhammad Khan and the brother of AJK Chief Secretary Arbab Shahzad.
The President, in a condolence message to Arbab Shahzad, prayed to Almighty to grant eternal peace to the deceased and give courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.
Pakistan lauds SC’s focus on Afghanistan, role in regional security, stability: Foreign Secretary
BEIJING, Mar 31 (APP): Pakistan is deeply appreciative of Shanghai Cooperative Organization’s pivotal role in promoting regional security and stability, said Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani.
He expressed these views at the SCO Fifth Vice-Ministerial Consultations on Regional Security, said a statement on Saturday. The meeting was held in Beijing on March 30 and was chaired by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping.
High level officials from the SCO member countries including China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and observer states Pakistan, India, Iran, as well as Afghanistan participated in the meeting.
Gilani leaves for China to participate in Boao Forum
ISLAMABAD, March 31 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani left here Saturday on a two-day visit to China to attend Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2012.
Minister for Information Dr. Firdous Aishaq Awan, Minister for Finance Dr. Hafeez Sheikh and Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar, accompanied the Prime Minister.
Talking to newsmen before his departure at Chaklala Air Base, the Prime Minister said Boao Forum is an important platform to promote economic activities in the region.
He said a number of important leaders of the region are attending the Forum that will provide a chance for exchange of views with them.
The conference is titled “ Asia in the Changing World: Moving Towards Sound and Sustainable development”, and is being held in Hainan Island of China from March 31.
Journalist gunned down
JHANG, Mar 30 (APP): A Local journalist Irfan was gunned down by un-identified attackers here on Friday night.He was coming out of his car at Rashid chowk near the bus stand when the four persons ridding on two motorcycles approached him and opened fire on him. As a result the journalist killed on the spot.The police after taking the body into custody, has send it to DHQ hospital for autopsy.Irfan was attached with an electronic channel.
