KARACHI, May 21 (APP): Former Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Lt. Gen (Retd) Tauqir Zia has demanded ad hoc arrangements in the present set-up of the board.
When the incumbent management of the PCB is celebrating the
democratic transition a few former, current players and administrators casting
doubts on the mechanism adopted by the PCB for the elections held in Islamabad on May 8 three-day before the General Elections in the country.

MULTAN, Dec 31 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday inaugurated the Head Mohammadwala bridge on the Chenab river, fulfilling a promise of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto with the people of Muzaffargarh just two days before her assassination.
Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, in her address at a public
meeting in Muzaffargarh on Dec 25, 2007, had promised to build
the bridge if the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) came to power. “I am honoured to
fulfil yet another of our martyred leader’s promises today,”
the Prime Minister said while addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the
Rs 2 billion project.

JIT to probe Quetta blast: Rehman Malik
ISLAMABAD, Dec 31 (APP): Interior Minister A Rehman Malik has ordered to
form a Joint Investigation Team (JCT) to probe Quetta blast which took place on
Friday.
JIT will work under the supervision of DIG Police, while its members will
be from all law and enforcement agencies, said a press release issued here on
Saturday.
The JIT will present its report within 14 days.
The Minister directs DIG Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to send senior
officer immediately for investigation of Quetta bomb blast.
Abandoned juveniles to get cost-free CNICs, passports: Malik
KARACHI, Dec 31 (APP): Federal Minister for Interior Affairs, A. Rehman Malik announced that abandoned children including the orphan living in Edhi Homes and such other registered shelter homes in the country will get free of cost Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and passports from NADRA.
National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has been directed to accept as authenticated its registration forms for children (B-Forms) which are verified/recommended by Edhi Trust and other registered child homes for issuance of CNICs, passports, etc., he said.

Malik announces Rs 100,000 cash prize for levis officials
ISLAMABAD, Dec 31 (APP): Federal Interior Minister A Rehman Malik has
announced Rs 100,000 cash prize for each levis official for participating in an
operation against abductors of levis officials in Pashin District of Balochistan.
In a statement issued here, the Minister highly appreciated the performance
of levis officials.
Rehman Malik directed Home Secretary Balochistan to also nominate levis
officials for suitable awards.
Constitution of Pakistan credit of PPP: PM
MULTAN, Dec 31 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said it was credit of Pakistan Peoples Party and its leadership to give a constitution to the country that ensured the unity, integrity and solidarity after the dismemberment in 1971.
Addressing a function after inaugurating development projects in Qadirpur Ran, the Prime Minister said, “The constitution given by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto ensured unity among the people of Pakistan following the fall of Dakkah.”
Referring to the criticism of the people on the PPP, he said, “The party which made the constitution, release and restored judges, gave independence to media can not be a threat to Pakistan or any other institution.”
