Asif confident of Pakistan doing well in Asian Team Snooker
KARACHI, May 22 (APP): Reigning World Champion Muhammad Asif was confident of doing well in inaugural Asian Team Snooker and 6-Red Snooker Championship being held Doha (Qatar) from May 24 to 30.
“All our players like Sajjad, Hamza and Majid are in a good nick and are in the best frame of mind to do well in Doha event”, Muhammad Asif told APP in an interview on Wednesday.

National ranking boxing tournament next month
LAHORE, May 22 (APP): National ranking boxing tournament will be held from
June 20 at Hyderabad under the aegis of Pakistan Boxing Federation.
“It will be a top national level boxing activity being held after the
elections of the present regime of the PBF,” said Secretary, PBF, Iqbal Hussain
while talking to APP here on Wednesday.

ISLAMABAD, May 22 (APP): Former Pakistan players perceive the recent
spot-fixing scandal as a cause to faint the image of the game of cricket and has
stone the ongoing Indian Premier League.
Talking to private news channel, Former Test captain Zaheer Abbas said that

Canadian High Commissioner inaugurates Chail Shagai Bridge in Swat
ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP): Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ross Hynes inaugurated the Chail Shagai bridge in Swat District, one of 24 bridges Canada is helping to build to restore transportation links to communities affected by the 2010 floods.
“This bridge is a token of Canada’s longstanding friendship with Pakistan and demonstrates Canada’s continued commitment to assist Pakistan in its recovery from the devastating 2010 floods,” announced High Commissioner Hynes, says a press release here from Canadian High Commission.

Pakistan suffered most from terror than any other country: Zardari
ISTANBUL, Oct 31 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan has suffered great loss in fighting terrorism and lost over 36,000 innocent men, women and children besides suffering direct economic loss over 70 billion dollars in this fight.
In an interview published prominently at the front page of leading Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, President Zardari, who is here to attend trilateral summit on Afghanistan said, “No country has made greater contributions and sacrifices in fighting terrorism than Pakistan.”

Premier Wen to attend SCO PMs’ meeting in Russia

COAS leaves for Turkey to attend Istanbul Conference
RAWALPINDI, Oct 31 (APP): Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani left for Turkey on Monday to participate in Istanbul Conference being held on Tuesday. The conference encompasses trilateral meetings between political and military leadership of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkey.The Army Chief will hold discussions with senior military leaders of Turkey and Afghanistan.
He was seen off by Lieutenant General Waheed Arshad, Chief of General Staff and Lieutenant General Khalid Nawaz Khan, Commander Rawalpindi Corps.
Afghan refugees’ repatriation remained low in 2011: UNHCR
ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP): The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has said that the repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan is 59 per cent low this year as compared to last year.According to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Pakistan Neil Wright, the number of Afghan refugees returning home with the help of UNHCR had dropped substantially this year as some 60,000 repatriated form overseas in the first 10 months against over 100,000 during the same period in 2010, a private news channel reported.
