KARACHI, May 21 (APP): Former Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Lt. Gen (Retd) Tauqir Zia has demanded ad hoc arrangements in the present set-up of the board.
When the incumbent management of the PCB is celebrating the
democratic transition a few former, current players and administrators casting
doubts on the mechanism adopted by the PCB for the elections held in Islamabad on May 8 three-day before the General Elections in the country.

Rain ahead of Eid to bring chill in weather
ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP): A three-day rain-spell, forecast to hit specially the souther parts of the country from Tuesday, is foreseen to introduce a welcome chill in the air, days ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha. Though mornings and evenings are already a little bit cold in Northern parts of the land, due to rains of the previous days, the coming wet spell, followed by another spell in the second week of November, may well usher in the winter in all its glory, say the weather pundits. According to an advisory issued by met office, a well marked low pressure area developed over central parts of Arabian Sea has intensified into a “Depression” (strong weather system) Monday, located at 1200 km south-southwest of Balochistan coast.

KARACHI, Oct 31 (APP): Left handed batsman Faraz Ahmed Khan smashed a maiden first class hundred and his 150-run 8th wicket stand with Mansoor Ahmed powered Karachi Whites to 371 all out in their first innings in their Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Trophy Division-II match against Hyderabad at NBP Sports Complex ground on Monday.
By draw of stumps on the second day in the 4-day match, Hyderabad
had reached 161 for the loss of five wickets in their first innings. They are
still 110-run behind with five wickets intact.

CDA finalizes sanitation arrangements for Eid-ul-Adha
ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP): Sanitation Directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalized the arrangements for collection and disposal of offals and other waste of the sacrificial animals in capital on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha.
The arrangements made by the Sanitation Directorate of CDA for removal of offal, entrails and carcasses of sacrificial animals were discussed Monday in the meeting presided by the Chairman CDA, Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, says a press release.

PM extends date of exchange for 500 rupees note by Sep 30, 2012
ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP): On the recommendations of Ministry of Finance Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has approved extension in the date of exchange of Rs.500 (old design) bank note by commercial banks for further period of one year up to September 30, 2012. The Prime Minister approved the extension on the request of the general public and parliamentarians.
